Center for Discovery, a leader in eating disorder treatment for teens and adult women, announced today a successful education event presented by Dr. Brian Holt at the Learning Partnership Training Center in San Jose, CA. The presentation, titled “The Role of Psychopharmacology in Treating Eating Disorders,” focused on the treatment of various co-morbid disorders common to those diagnosed with eating disorders.

The Grand Rounds presentation included a basic overview of the role of psychopharmacology in the treatment and management of those diagnosed with eating disorders, the major categories of psychopharmacological agents and a review of data regarding the efficacy and side effects of these agents. The presentation was designed to help participants understand the major psychiatric comorbidities associated with eating disorders as well as the major classes of psychopharmacological agents, and the major side effects and contraindications for drugs commonly used in treating eating disorders. In addition, information was provided on the prevalence and importance of addressing substance abuse issues when diagnosed concurrently with an eating disorder.
