Launched in late 2008, the program provides and funds education, fitness and nutrition resources for all Tek Collect corporate office associates. A personal trainer and nutritionist work together with employees both individually and as teams, and software has been installed to help associates manage goals and track their progress.

Employee Wellness Programs empower individuals to improve their physical fitness, lose weight, increase stamina, lower stress levels and enhance self-esteem. They can also have a powerful impact on the culture and success of the company as a whole, no matter the industry it operates in.

"The Wellness Program has had phenomenal results. From a business perspective, there are fewer illnesses, reducing absenteeism. Associates are more focused and productive. And the camaraderie that's developed has boosted teamwork and morale," said Tek Collect Senior Vice President, Pam Nast. "Beyond that, it's wonderful to see how the program has impacted people on a personal level."

Kendre Wade was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a systematic disease that predominantly affects the lungs. "I'd lost a lot of weight and muscle and was so weak I couldn't walk, much less work. I started treatment, and then worked with our personal trainer on regaining balance and agility. We moved on to cardio, strength and building stamina. I've gained 40 pounds and I feel like I'm back where I used to be. The program was the best thing that ever could have happened."

Carlos Mantuia shares his enthusiasm. Since the program's inception, he's shed nearly 100 pounds. He said of the accounts receivable management company's program: "It helped me turn my life around. When I began, I could barely walk on the treadmill. Now I'm doing 20 minutes at a time. And I'm getting support from a place I never expected. We're like a family. We keep each other motivated and going strong."
