Sonus PR, the telecoms PR specialist consultancy, today announced that it has won the brief to launch lastminute.com's new talking foreign phrasebooks for mobile phones. The brief is to promote the launch of the applications and to drive uptake by targeting European mobile operator and consumer media.

Sonus PR will work with developers CoolGorilla on the launch of the lastminute.com talking mobile phrase books, which speak foreign language phrases through the mobile phone speaker. The CoolGorilla account will be led by Sonus PR Managing Director Martin Smith who will deal directly with Roy Forsdick of CoolGorilla.

The new talking phrasebooks are simple to use - users navigate to the appropriate phrase and press select, the phone then speaks the phrase in the foreign language and shows the written translation. The phrasebooks come in six foreign languages: French, Spanish, German, Greek, Italian and Portuguese, each containing between 250-300 sound files covering a variety of subjects including Eating, Travel and Flirting. Later this year phrase books translating from one non-English language to another, for example French to Italian, will be available.

Mark McCulloch, Head of Brand Development at lastminute.com commented: "This is truly a break through in being smart on holiday. Instead of you having to flick through the pages of a phrase book to find what you want to say, you simply click your phone menu, select the phrase you need and voila! It also helps with your pronunciation and ensures you are understood, which will hopefully put an end to being embarrassed to try out your language skills when on holiday and help you have a more enriching holiday experience."

Roy Forsdick, of developer CoolGorilla said: "We were looking for an agency that would guide us through the whole process and Sonus PR proved that they had the expertise and experience to support us. Sonus has some amazing experience in wireless telecoms, which is what we wanted to tap into."

Sonus PR's founder and Managing Director, Martin Smith, commented: "This will be an incredibly useful application for consumers and business users on holidays and short breaks. It is a very innovative application which makes use of mobile phone capabilities."

About Sonus Public Relations

Sonus PR was set up to provide a unique, expertise-led PR agency focused purely on telecoms, and has since become one of PR Week's Top 40 agencies and the only exclusively telecoms consultancy in the poll. The agency's belief is that 'Technology' has become too large and pervasive for any one person or agency to be a 'Technology' expert. This approach has allowed Sonus PR to develop close links with the trade media, industry analysts and industry event organisers.

Sonus PR has three regional hub offices: London, the heart of Europe's media and marketing industries; San Francisco, the base of North America's Technology industry, and Singapore, the focal point of pan-Asian business.
