Types of Term Life Insurance to Avoid

AccuQuote.com, a leading provider of term life insurance quotes to people across the United States, warns consumers to consider the pros and cons of certain types of life insurance policies.

Wheeling, IL (PRWEB) April 2, 2009 -- AccuQuote, a leader in providing term life insurance quotes to people across the United States, recommends consumers consider buying certain types of life insurance policies very carefully. The ones AccuQuote specifically cautions against include credit life insurance, mortgage life insurance and air travel life insurance.

"The key reason for a life insurance policy is to protect your family from financial disaster if something were to happen to you unexpectedly. A lot of the life insurance being sold today is duplicative of the protection you would get from a low cost term life insurance policy," says Byron Udell, founder and CEO of AccuQuote. "And dollar for dollar, these other policies are ridiculously more expensive."

Here are some types of insurance Udell says you should think twice about:

  • Credit life insurance - Benefits from a term life insurance policy can be used to make sure those creditors are paid as well as other bills.
  • Mortgage Life Insurance - It might seem like a good idea to get mortgage life insurance to pay off the house, but an affordable term life insurance policy will do the same thing. And, term life insurance policies are generally less expensive than those offered by mortgage companies.
  • Air travel life insurance - "If someone depends on you financially, then you need life insurance to cover you no matter how you die," says Udell. Term life insurance will protect the owner if he/she dies in an airplane crash or naturally.

"If you get a phone call from your credit card or mortgage company and it sounds like the deal of the century, don't fall for the bait," says Udell. "If you feel that you might need insurance to cover these types of bills in the event of your death, then it's time to consider low cost term life insurance."
