The Herrera Law Firm, Inc., today announced a $25,000 contribution to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the Fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.

“We wish to express our support for all those affected by the explosion at the West Fertilizer Company and offer our deepest condolences to those families who have suffered the loss of loved ones, injuries, property damage or a combination of both,” said Jorge Herrera, a Texas explosion litigator whose firm helps people who have been seriously injured in accidents or who have sustained property damage. “We are dedicated exclusively to helping the citizens of West, Texas. With this in mind, we urge others to join us in a show of support for the victims of this tragedy by contributing to the American Red Cross as well.”

At least 14 people were killed and about 200 people were injured in the explosion on April 17 at the West Fertilizer Co., near Waco. AP reports that the recovery center in West will remain open through Sunday. A Red Cross representative told the Associated Press that about 18,000 meals and snacks have been served since the disaster. Red Cross also has handed out shovels, rakes and work gloves as more residents are allowed back into damaged parts of West, the AP reports.

In addition to the injuries and fatalities, about 50 homes were destroyed and a nearby nursing home was severely damaged, the AP reports.

The Herrera Law Firm, Inc., is joined by other law firms in the donation to the Red Cross: Herman, Herman & Katz of New Orleans; Musslewhite & Associates, P.C., of Houston; Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP, of Washington, D.C.; and Underwood Law Office, Inc., of McKinney, Texas.
