In his new book, “Several Points from Which to View: While Pursuing and Perfecting Your Purpose” (published by AuthorHouse), author Texas Jack Cowan passes on a lifetime of wisdom and experience to the next generation as given to him by the many mentors who touched his life.
Born in Texas, Cowan grew up as the caregiver in his family. His oldest brother was killed in a traumatic hit-and-run accident when Cowan was 8 years old, and his mother was pregnant and bedridden. It was up to Cowan to care for his younger siblings, as his father and next oldest brother had no intention to do so.
Cowan eventually ran away from home and went to live with his friend until he graduated high school. Determined to find purpose for his life, Cowan took many jobs, including an advertisement seller for the NFL and a real estate broker, and traveled extensively, spending one New Year’s Eve in Hong Kong and one St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin. Along the way, many mentors came in and out of his life, offering advice and guidance in his personal and professional life.
Throughout the memoir, Cowan pays tribute to the mentors who taught him so much over the years and inspired him to never give up. He hopes his book will serve as similar motivation to readers.
“Each and every one of us needs to know that they also are the most important person in the world,” Cowan asserts, “and they need to develop themselves to fulfill their purpose and deliver their gift.”
