We provide a free search engine to search for books and textbooks from over 50 online websites.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 05, 2012
According to a recent study, conducted by The 20 Million Minds Foundation, which aims to reduce the cost of textbooks, the average amount that college students spend on textbooks has soared from about $900 to almost $1,300 per year, but the founders of a new textbook web site say that they have created a way for college students to compare textbook prices from many vendors, enabling them to find thousands of cheap textbooks for sale.
“We provide a free search engine to search for books and textbooks from over 50 online websites including eBay and Amazon,” said Arden Koskerian, owner of Textbooks Price Compare. “You can search for books by ISBN, title, author, or keywords, and it returns search results that are sorted from lowest price to highest price into categories of used books, new books, international editions, eBooks, and rentals.”
Over the last 20 years, college textbook prices have increased at twice the rate of inflation but have followed close behind tuition increases. Increasing at an average of 6 percent per year, textbook prices have nearly tripled, while tuition and fees increased by 240 percent, according to data released by The 20 Million Minds Foundation.
“Everything is on the rise, from college tuition to textbooks, but with just one simple search, you can find the lowest prices available on the internet,” Koskerian said. “Students have more important things to worry about; our goal was to create this website to help make life a little bit easier. One search will bring you the cheapest textbook prices on the internet.”
What makes Textbooks Price Compare different from everything else on the market, according to Koskerian, is that it’s a free search engine that calculates coupons, promotions, taxes, and shipping on every combination of all of your items in order to find the lowest total price.
“As former college students, we understand the struggle and frustration of book buying and selling” Koskerian empathized. “We aim to be the Kayak of books. Our goal is to save students an average of $1,000 a year by using our free search engine.”
University of South Alabama Student identified as Joy, described the web site as “awesome.”
“This website found me the cheapest combination of books and saved me over $100 compared to my local on-campus bookstore,” she said. “I will definitely use textbookspricecompare.com next semester.”
Brandon, a student at Arizona State University, agreed.
“Finding textbooks online is so easy with these guys,” he said. “Textbookspricecompare.com has saved me hundreds since I found this site.”
