Imagine descending from a mountain pass and you are greeted with views of a lush valley or driving along a scenic road flanked by azure seas on one side and towering mountains on the other. These are some of my personal favorite moments during my self drive journeys in Thailand.
Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) December 3, 2009
With an extensive network of well-maintained roads, Thailand is one of the best countries in Southeast Asia to embark on a self-drive program. After months of research, leading destination management company Exotissimo Travel has launched two self drive packages in Thailand.
Exotissimo will handle all the tour details, from car rental and hotel reservations to providing a detailed road map and a suggested itinerary and excursions, to ensure travelers a hassle-free vacation. Travelers just have to pick up the car from either the airport or their hotel and begin their self drive journey in the Thai kingdom.
Self Drive Thailand's Beautiful South is a 5-day package that starts in Phuket, with stops in Khao Lak, Khao Sak and Krabi. It is a great way to immerse in the charming beauty of Thailand's peninsular south as travelers are sure to encounter scenic panoramas of turquoise seas, rubber plantations and coconut groves during their drives. At Khao Sok National Park, home to the world's oldest evergreen rainforest, travelers are free to spend a day hiking, elephant riding or canoeing amidst the pristine wilderness. Optional excursions to famed offshore islands, such as James Bond and Phi Phi Islands, offer travelers an opportunity to take in the remarkable limestone karst scenery in Thailand's Andaman Sea.

Circle of the North is a 7-day package that loops around the mountainous northern provinces. The tour begins in Chiang Rai with recommended stops around the infamous Golden Triangle area. In Mae Hong Son, the highlights include visiting enormous limestone caves, long-necked Karen villages and blooming sunflower fields. The tour finishes in Chiang Mai, where travelers are encouraged to drive up to Thailand's highest peak at Doi Inthanon as well as to ancient Lanna temples and established elephant sanctuaries. Although driving in northern Thailand entails negotiating many winding bends, travelers will be rewarded with some of the most dramatic vistas in the Kingdom.
