The Daily Galaxy, a popular web site devoted to news and insights on science, technology, space exploration and popular culture, is taking a stand on what will dominate the conversation over the next century.

"The Daily Galaxy is built on our vision that science and space exploration , especially the search for life beyond our solar system, will increasingly become a dominant focus of world interest—just as Internet and Web technology is today,” explains Casey Kazan, Editor-in-Chief.

The importance of the unanswered questions of science to our future is underscored by Stephen Hawking: “All of my life, I have been fascinated by the big questions that face us, and have tried to find scientific answers to them. Perhaps that is why I have sold more books on physics than Madonna has on sex. I don't think the human race will survive the next thousand years, unless we spread into space. There are too many accidents that can befall life on a single planet. But I'm an optimist. We will reach out to the stars.”

Kazan added, "We are aiming at a smart, global audience that is hungry for news and insights into the issues and events that define our daily lives on Planet Earth," he explained.

The Galaxy announced this week that its new Virtual Genius application went live on Facebook and is being adapted as a "gadget" for iGoogle.

Virtual Genius is a daily quote that captures a brilliant insight from historical and contemporary thinkers and scientists, which is fed to your Facebook profile page or iGoogle page.
