"We have been driving this mission for many years and the movement is gaining momentum every day. A tremendous victory!" - Ralph Bianculli Jr Bianculli, Managing Director of Emerald Brand
SYOSSET, N.Y. (PRWEB) January 11, 2019
With a new year comes new responsibilities. On January 1st, 2019 New York City prohibited the use, possession and sale of single-use foam food containers. This will include but is not limited to foam takeout clamshells, cups, plates, bowls, and trays. Also, stores and manufacturers are banned from selling or having the possession of loose fill foam packaging (“packing peanuts”) within the city. Any business or agency that is affected will have a six-month period of warning that will last until June 30th. After July 1st, any businesses found using foam will receive fines for each notice of violation issued within a 12-month period.
There are 4,000 food carts/trucks and over 26,000 restaurant establishments in New York City. They will be required to comply with this new law, by integrating alternatives to foam within their operations. Over the past two decades, Emerald Brand has been the country’s leader in sustainable disposables, providing Plastic-Free and Tree-Free™ disposable technology to the marketplace. Many businesses need sustainable product suppliers immediately to avoid being fined. Emerald Brand’s streamlined sustainability solution can be implemented to make these establishments compliant.
