The app syncs with episodes of “The Pillars of the Earth” airing on REELZCHANNEL TV and lets viewers tap into a wealth of behind-the-scenes information detailing Ken Follett’s bestselling novel and the miniseries. Compatible with Apple’s iPad, iPad 2 and also web browsers, the app is free of charge and available now for download at Apple’s iTunes store and at reelz.com/apps.

The app’s Timeline of Events updates as characters emerge and significant scenes appear during the miniseries. When King Henry I (Clive Wood) first appears, click to connect to the official website of the British Monarchy and discover how Henry rose to power. Explore the events following the sinking of the White Ship carrying King Henry I’s only legitimate male heir to the throne, William, and find out how a booze-filled night at sea significantly changed England’s history and led to years of chaos and war during the Anarchy. The app also features the broadcast schedule for “The Pillars of the Earth” on REELZ and automatically updates with channel numbers based on the viewer’s current location.

“The Pillars of the Earth” will make its REELZ premiere starting Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 8pm ET and at 8pm PT, with a two-hour presentation of episodes 1 and 2 airing back to back. Then, starting Monday, December 5, all nine episodes play out over the week, culminating with the final two episodes (8 and 9) airing on Sunday, December 11 starting at 8pm ET and at 8pm PT and again on Monday, December 12 starting at 8pm ET and at 8pm PT.
