Asheville, NC (PRWEB) November 30, 2011
In a partnership with Buncombe County, Laura will provide on-going support, access to and knowledge about community resources available to Kinship families. In addition, she will evaluate the needs of each kinship provider as a group and individually to determine which community resource could best meet their needs. Laura will provide support groups for kinship families, coordinate resource and holiday drives through volunteers and local businesses, and maintain a tracking system of kinship family information.
Kinship care is a program designed to help support a child who resides outside of his or her own home, either temporarily, or for the longer term, with a relative, godparents, stepparents or any adult who has a “kinship bond” with a child. Kinship Care is an option that allows a child to grow into adulthood in a familiar family environment instead of being placed in foster care.
