Northbrook, IL (PRWEB) October 29, 2006 -- Ampol Publishing today announced the publication of "If only I could...," a love story, by author Greg M. Sarwa. This is Sarwa's second book after earning finalist status for "The Cattle" in ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Competition.

"If only I could..." is a tale of love in the last stages of life. Main characters John and Agatha reunite after years of separation due to mistakes and missed opportunities in their younger years. John, terminally ill, is forced to live the remainder of his life in a nursing home and resents the daily monotony of life until one day he serendipitously encounters Agatha on the street. As the one-time young lovers reacquaint themselves and explore their past experiences through flashbacks, they decide to give their romance another chance. Fate steps in again when Agatha's family learns that her son is actually John's namesake. "If only I could..." follows John and Agatha's heartbreak as they deal with health, family and their own emotions.

In "If only I could..." Sarwa hopes to impart on readers that real love has an eternal quality that surpasses even death. He also gives readers hope that it is never too late to redeem our mistakes by giving love another chance.

"I decided to write 'If only I could...' to show people how choices in their youth can affect their future," said Sarwa. "Regardless of your intentions, every choice you make can decide your path in life. In 'If only I could...," main characters John and Agatha learn that lesson the hard way, making for a heart-wrenching love story."

Greg M. Sarwa was born in Chrzanow, Poland and currently resides in Northbrook, Illinois. "If only I could..." (ISBN 0-9766202-3-5) is listed in Bowker's Books In Print and is available for purchase at www.amazon.com, www.bn.com, www.gregsarwa.com and any book retailer. Reviews:

"This novel is the best soul mate story I have ever read. Well-written and balanced in descriptive scenes, dialogue, and plot, it is a page-turner I didn't want to put down. But then, neither did I want the tale to end."
Heather Froeschl, Bookreviews.com

"This second novel of Greg Sarwa is more than a romance. It's a satisfying love story… A good read for those seeking a more thoughtful look into the mysteries of two human hearts."
James J. Cuddy, is author of his family's saga, "Worth Remembering."

"If only I could...reminds us that life is short and regrets have a life of their own but at any time we can choose to really live and to choose love once again."
Tami Brady, TCM Reviews

"Probably this is the simplest, long "short-story" I have ever read. And that makes it so clear, so I can see through the scenes and characters. There is nothing in this story that couldn't happen to a human being. "If only I could…" is not "about" somebody, instead it is "for" everyone - to be filled with details of someone's life, colored by one's own reality. Then, what could arise when you stumble on a sidewalk? A myth of eternal love..."
Art Grabowski, playwright, published author and professor of literature

"Author Greg Sarwa's style has an ineffable quality that is the mark of great writing. Deceptively simple, his storytelling combines a poetic air with clear-eyed practicality. If Only I Could… is a lovely, heartfelt tale of life-long love and second chances."
