Website Sells Numbers 1 to 1,000,000 to Send Friend to Japan

It started off as a way to make money to send a friend to Japan. Now, The Big Number Search is selling off every number between one and a million to internet users.

I can't wait to present him with the plane ticket and tell him he has to dance around Japan dressed like a Pokemon.

Customers can choose and purchase any number between 1 and 1,000,000 to display their own website on.This new concept allows websites to be searched for by their chosen number.

The numbers can be searched for directly or randomly at Each number gets allocated just once to whoever gets it first.

The creator dreamt up the idea for the website as a way to fund an expedition to Japan. It was prompted by a friend’s remark that he’d star in a spoof music video if someone paid for him to go to Japan to film it.

Launched on 1st November 2011, websites have been signing up from the first day. Sites include blogs, photography, online shops and more. Visitors choose a number from the remaining available and purchase it for a small one off payment. They enter their chosen URL and their website can then be found at that number for the duration of the site’s existence.

While hoping to finance a trip to Japan to make a comedy music video, The Big Number Search aims to provide cheap, unique advertising and exposure for other websites on the internet. And by offering a limited amount of numbers to display other websites on, provide a place for visitors to browse random sites of interest.
