Site enhancements improve accessibility, interactivity and community experience for readers; new opportunities for advertisers

The Deal Newsweekly Site

The Deal LLC, the authoritative voice of the deal economy, today unveils a revamped home for The Deal newsweekly's content on, (, that offers visitors and advertisers an enhanced experience by offering up daily interactive content and archives within a community-based forum.

"The Deal Newsweekly's redesign goes beyond the next level of online news with a fully integrated experience in which The Deal's editorial will encourage an ongoing dialogue with readers," said Robert Teitelman, editor-in-chief of The Deal LLC.

The debut of The Deal Newsweekly site also represents a shift in the magazine's online subscription model, as the archived newsweekly content, previously only available with a subscription, is now free, beginning with the May 19, 2008 issue.

In addition to the complete roster of magazine feature stories, columns and special reports, the site reinforces The Deal's commitment to leading the deal community's discussion with content only available online. Unique community features include:

  •     In-depth video interviews with corporate development executives, institutional investors and advisers on industry trends and transactions.
  •     Slideshows profiling dealmakers, their high-end hobbies and transaction details.
  •     Facebook links, further interconnecting visitors and The Deal LLC.
  •     Soapbox section, commentary from distinguished experts

Soapbox embodies The Deal's longstanding commitment to bridging relationships among the deal economy's practitioners - a disparate group of elite financiers, advisers, lawyers, regulators, corporate executives, hedge fund managers and entrepreneurs that The Deal first defined as an interdependent group upon its launch in September 1999. Also cultivating the community aspect to the site, The Deal Newsweekly site will offer greater integration with the company's events series.

Advertisers will also benefit from the site's refinements. New advertising formats on the site include a banner alongside the masthead and on the left, adjacent to some of the most visited features and video offerings, along with an eye-catching skyscraper at the right hand side of the page. Videos, slideshows and the advanced search tool will also include sponsorship opportunities that allow advertisers to take over pages, providing greater interactivity to visitors as they spend more time exploring the site.

The Deal Newsweekly's streamlined navigation will now make content easier to find. The site's new architecture is structured with:

  •     Features: Encompasses The Deal's cover stories and special reports, along with the newsweekly's postmortem and bankruptcy stories.
  •     Insights: Brings together The Deal's weekly columns -- Media Maneuvers, Transactions, Backstory, Capital Calls and more.
  •     Dealwatch: Includes primers on deals in progress, as well as coverage of industries and current trends.
  •     Dealmakers: Includes in-depth video interviews with slideshows.
  •     Community: A dynamic environment for dealmakers, this section anchors Soapbox -- contributed content from distinguished experts, Facebook links and a Discussion feature.
  •     The Magazine: Houses The Deal's archives.

"We believe that these enhancements will lead to more engaging content, encourage longer and more interactive sessions and help us deliver further on our commitment to being the authoritative site for deal news and analysis," said Tom Groppe, executive editor of electronic media at The Deal LLC.
