“The selection of EmpowerID by a global bank recognized for the strength of its management and its commitment to security is an indication of the unique value that EmpowerID provides to heterogeneous enterprise environments” Patrick Parker, CEO
Dublin, OH (PRWEB) October 13, 2010
One of the world’s largest and most profitable banks has selected EmpowerID from The Dot Net Factory as the standard global tool for Active Directory administration and secure workflow automation. EmpowerID’s secure role-based workflows will replace the use of Microsoft’s ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers) by technical staff and will reduce the number of privileged users while increasing security and productivity for the bank.
EmpowerID will also assist in migrating all of the bank’s users in over 400 offices worldwide to a new Active Directory forest while maintaining their access to groups, resources and applications in both the old and the new forest during the transition process. The Dot Net Workflow component of EmpowerID will be used to create secure workflows to connect to other provisioning platforms already in use by the bank. The agreement, whose value exceeds $1 million, also includes the acquisition of EmpowerID modules to centrally manage security for Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint.
EmpowerID’s Role Based Access Control (RBAC) allows the bank to control access to all the functions previously provided by Microsoft’s ADUC and will provide configurable approvals, audit tracking and reporting for changes initiated to Active Directory. Users will be able to view and execute only the options permitted by their role or specific delegations and will have access to workflows that significantly reduce the time and labor needed to perform many of their activities, while improving consistency and auditability.
EmpowerID’s User Manager and Group Manager will assist in a multi-year project to inventory and manage the bank’s users in an existing AD forest and migrate them to a new forest while simultaneously maintaining their group memberships and access privileges to resources in both. This capability is a feature of EmpowerID’s robust SQL-based metadirectory, which can function as an authoritative source for information independent of Active Directory. Dot Net Workflow, a visual workflow design platform built from Windows Workflow Foundation, will be used to create custom workflows that will pull information from different directories and systems to create automated, secure and auditable business-specific provisioning activities. At the peak of the migration, over one hundred thousand user accounts will be managed and synchronized by EmpowerID. These features allow EmpowerID to play a key role in the governance and compliance initiatives of many organizations.
"We are excited to see the continued rapid adoption of the EmpowerID platform by global organizations worldwide, including those in the financial, banking or regulatory fields. Its robust Identity Management functionality, Federation Services and Dot Net Workflow development environment form a powerful and compelling solution set for security-minded organizations. EmpowerID’s superiority in securing Microsoft platforms and Active Directory, its flexibility in connecting to other platforms, and its ability to rapidly model and automate sophisticated business processes provides a rapid return on investment even when clients have significant investments in other IDM platforms," said Patrick Parker.
