Jeffrey Bell, an early, prominent, policy advisor for Governor Reagan, then for President Reagan, is an admired Conservative leader and outstanding writer, an expert on the gold standard.

Jeffrey Bell has been appointed as an advisor for TheGoldStandardNow.org, a project of The Lehrman Institute. Institute founder and chairman Lewis E. Lehrman said: “Jeffrey Bell, an early, prominent, policy advisor for Governor Reagan, then for President Reagan, is an admired Conservative leader and outstanding writer, an expert on the gold standard.”

TheGoldStandardNow.org is a website that provides information about the classical gold standard. The site provides key writings, historical information, breaking news, featured articles from the world media and frequently updated original content.

Jeffrey Bell is author of Populism and Elitism: Politics in the Age of Equality, called by journalist Fred Barnes the most important political book of 1992. He has completed his second book, Social Conservatism: The Movement that Polarized American Politics, due out in January 2012 from Encounter Books. Bell is policy director of the American Principles Project and has written for many publications, most recently the Weekly Standard, National Review, and the Wall Street Journal. He was Republican nominee for the United States Senate from New Jersey in 1978 and was elected a Reagan delegate to the GOP national convention in 1980. He was an issues advisor to the Reagan campaigns of 1976 and 1980.

Upon accepting his appointment, Bell said, “It is an honor to work once again with Lew Lehrman. When Lew served as chairman of Citizens for America, the semi-official pro-Reagan advocacy group that lobbied in the 1980s for the Reagan agenda, I was proud to serve under him as deputy chairman and—thanks to his decision and blessing—work full time for nearly two years on passage of the Tax Reform Act of 1986, the law that completed the revolutionary tax agenda of Ronald Reagan. There is no one better qualified or more appropriate to work with on the uncompleted part of the supply-side agenda—returning America and the world to the international gold standard—than its pre-eminent advocate of the last generation, Lew Lehrman.”

Other advisors to TheGoldStandardNow.org are James Grant, author of multiple books on finance and financial history including his latest, Mr. Market Miscalculates (Axios Press, 2008); Ralph J. Benko, author of many articles on the gold standard, most recently at The Washington Examiner, Forbes.com, CNBC.org and Foxnews.com; and Brian Domitrovic, author of Econoclasts: the Rebels Who Sparked the Supply-Side Revolution and Restored American Prosperity and Forbes.com columnist.
