"There is a lot of prestige associated with 90+ rated wines, and that The Mark Wine Group has the biggest selection available to on-premise national accounts is indicative of our stellar portfolio," says President and Founder Mark Gmur.

The Mark Wine Group announces its 90+ Collection for national restaurant and hotel chain buyers. In just over five years, The Mark Wine Group has carefully constructed a portfolio of 120+ family-owned wineries that span across the globe, with over 140 current vintage scores of 90 points or higher.

The Austin-based company's 90+ Collection only features scores from the four major wine publications in the United States as a reference - Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine & Spirits and The Wine Advocate. The wines have been assembled into one collection specifically designed for national buyers who value the impact that a 90+ score carries through to their guests, and for those who are designing specific wine programs around 90+ scoring wines.

"For any winery, there is a lot of prestige associated in producing a 90+ rated wine, and that The Mark Wine Group has the biggest selection available to on-premise national accounts is indicative of our stellar portfolio," says President and Founder Mark Gmur.

"Every buyer is their own judge, and we respect everyone's method for selecting wines. We work with many Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine who prefer to judge and evaluate all wines from scratch every time; more than often tasted blind without any outside influence, such as a score or a rating, even a fact sheet can be forbidden.

Incidentally, this is how we select the wines that go into The Mark Wine Group portfolio in the first place. First and foremost, we carry wines on their own merit, it's what is in the glass. Coincidentally, or not, we have the same tastes as the four major publications, curious how that has worked out."

"The scores are a feather in our cap, a token of prestige and the established reputation of the wineries we represent," adds Gmur. "Scores, ratings, and related designations merely break the ice and invite a professional to evaluate the wine themselves, they do not guarantee approval, and there are many fine wines that are completely worthy of a big score, but perhaps have not caught the eye of the reviewer for one reason or another, we still love those wines too, and are never forgotten."

Founded in 2007 and based in Austin, Texas, The Mark Wine Group is a family-owned, fine wine company - representing the highest quality family-owned and independent wineries and importers to hotel and restaurant companies throughout the United States. It started with a simple vision - to provide buyers a wide selection of very high quality wines to choose from and to provide a voice to those who had the ability to service National Accounts. In this way, The Mark Wine Group is the conduit for better wine selections at some of your favorite hotels and restaurants.
