Williams today announced the early release of new documentary "The Safest House," Part 1, to educate the public on the fact that the US Patent Design for these structures already exist.

“In the past 72 hours, I’ve heard members of Congress and victims speak on national TV, all stating that it’s time to research and design houses and schools that can withstand tornadoes; they don’t realize the technology already exists.

Flattened homes, schools, churches and businesses in the wake of devastating tornado damage in Moore, Oklahoma has sparked renewed interest in F5 tornado-proof homes. Filmmaker Eric W. Williams announced today that because of the May 20 tornado destruction, he has decided to release his latest film, “The Safest House” earlier than planned in order to get the message regarding F5 Tornado-safe homes and buildings out while people are listening.

Safe housing designs in a climate change era of increasingly destructive storms are fast becoming a practical matter, as the nation’s disaster aid price tag increases exponentially in the wake of back-to-back storms from Florida to the Eastern Seaboard, and on May 20, Oklahoma. “The Safest House” features real life examples of home design capable of handling winds up to 400 miles per hour, twice as high as the winds that leveled Moore and other sections of the southern Oklahoma City suburbs.

The aerodynamically designed home is built to withstand fire, flood, earthquakes and tsunamis, and is priced at a fraction of the cost to build of a traditional-style home.

“The Safest House” visits variations on the disaster-proof home which is by design “locked and sealed into the earth” at the foundation. The homes have been gaining popularity in recent years for their energy efficient qualities (costing up to 50 percent less than traditional homes to heat and cool)—significant perks in addition to their unprecedented strength against natural disasters.

“These homes have been built in 50 countries already, and each homeowner has the pleasure of telling others that they purchased the safest house,” says Williams, who wrote and directed "The Safest House." “I literally cry inside when I see Super-storm Sandy victims and other disaster victims rebuilding new homes and schools with the same, traditional materials and designs all over again."
