The Sharing Tree plans to support over ten local non-profit organizations in the first year. The company's "Our Mission is Your Mission" program will benefit communities, businesses, consumers and non-profit organizations in Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort and surrounding communities.

We are at the beginning of a major shift in how businesses and communities work together.

Today, The Sharing Tree announced the initial beneficiaries of the company's "Our Mission is Your Mission" program. Alzheimer's Family Services of Greater Beaufort, OSPREY Village, and the YMCA of Beaufort County have agreed to participate in the program. "We are thrilled to partner with such dedicated organizations and leaders. Each organization serves a critical need in the community. We plan to be their partner for many years," commented Michael Moore, The Sharing Tree founder.

The Sharing Tree's "Our Mission is Your Mission" program connects local businesses, consumers and non-profit organizations to broaden support and awareness for local causes. The Sharing Tree donates 5% of its revenue to “Our Mission is Your Mission” causes. The program addresses the following needs:

  • Increase healthcare services and access for the elderly, children and at risk populations
  • Protect natural resources and water quality
  • Improve literacy and education
  • Provide child and youth development opportunities

The Sharing Tree creates branding opportunities for businesses to attract community minded patrons and support local causes. The company also provides updates to the community on volunteer and cause support activities of local businesses. Mr. Moore stated, “Consumers want to know how businesses are supporting community causes. Many businesses are already involved in their communities and support local causes. We look forward to sharing their stories.”

In the 2010 Cone Cause Evolution Study, the nation’s longest Cause Branding benchmark, the study indicated:

  • 85% of consumers have a more positive image of a product or company when it supports a cause they care about.
  • 83% of Americans want more of the products, services and retailers they use to support causes.

Renee Faucher, the company’s Sales and Branding Consultant and a Beaufort native stated, “Building customer loyalty is a major focus of business owners. The "Our Mission is Your Mission" program is a great opportunity for businesses to enhance their branding and improve customer retention."

The YMCA of Beaufort County was the The Sharing Tree’s first partner in the “Our Mission is Your Mission” program. The program will support the YMCA’s Creating Opportunities Scholarship Campaign. The campaign has provided financial assistance to over 400 families. The YMCA of Beaufort County is one of the largest child and youth development organizations in Beaufort County serving over 3,500 youth. Youth participate in after school and wellness programs, athletics and summer camps.

Improving healthcare services and access for the elderly, children and at risk populations is one of the “Our Mission is Your Mission” program’s causes. OSPREY Village, a program partner, is dedicated to developing an inclusive, intergenerational residential community to support developmentally disabled adults and their caregivers in southern Beaufort County. The OSPREY Village neighborhood will provide both a safe and caring independent living environment for persons with developmental disabilities and their caregivers.

“OSPREY Village is a incredible opportunity for Beaufort County and the state of South Carolina. The project could transform how communities address this critical need. We look forward to seeing it become a reality,” stated Mr. Moore.
