They found [Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation] easy to handle and to integrate into their daily schedules – without extensive therapy sessions and periods of in-patient treatment.

A recent study has revealed a significant and sustainable reduction in tinnitus symptoms - for 71% of patients within six months – using the non-invasive tinnitus treatment, Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation. The RESET real life study, conducted in Germany, also revealed that a third of patients experienced reduced symptoms after just two weeks – and that the number of people in the ‘moderate’ to ‘severe’ tinnitus category halved by six months. The recent findings mirrored results from two earlier studies, conducted over the past two years.
Results of the study were presented at the 46th Conference for ENT physicians, by Joachim Wichmann, MD in Mannheim. Its aim was to determine the safety and potential of Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation, in ‘real-life,’ with a group of 200 participants. Findings confirmed the treatment’s safety and tolerance, and demonstrated positive therapeutic effects for the majority of patients. It was also noted that 80% of participants had experienced one or more structured tinnitus treatments prior to Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation.
Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation treatment differs from other therapeutic methods; it is individually adapted to each patient and targets the cause of tinnitus within the brain. A match-box sized, clip-on device, called a CR® Neurostimulator, delivers individual ‘therapy sounds’ through medical headphones. The therapy signals are very close to the threshold of human sound perception and, therefore, do not hinder everyday activities.
ENT Physician, Joachim Wichmann commented, “Our participants had a median age of 50 years and were in the midst of professional and social life. 98% were fully compliant and applied the treatment throughout the entire study. They found it easy to handle and to integrate into their daily schedules – without extensive therapy sessions and periods of in-patient treatment.”
In the UK, around 10% of the population is affected by tinnitus. Although it is sometimes associated with hearing loss and ear conditions, it often occurs as a symptom only. It can also be linked to stress, prolonged exposure to loud noise, head or ear injury and drugs. Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation treatment is offered exclusively by The Tinnitus Clinic, which has audiology centres in London, Birmingham and Manchester.
The Tinnitus Clinic has a team of experienced Audiologists trained in delivering Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation and a range of other evidence-based tinnitus treatment options.
