Fit Body Boot Camp is always doing things to give back to the community and help out, so I thought it was great to collect all of our clothes that didn’t fit and give them to the local women’s shelter.
The Woodlands, TX (PRWEB) May 20, 2013
Inspired by her client’s total weight loss of 442 pounds, Spring and The Woodlands personal trainer, Shanna Layne came up with the charity idea “Our Loss Their Gain” and to have her boot camp business host a clothing drive to support a local charity. Clients from the two boot camps donated 35 bags worth of clothing to Something Special, the local Montgomery County Women’s Resale Shop. Thus, the “Our Loss Their Gain” campaign was a huge success.
Being a huge advocate and supporter of local charities who help neighbors in need, Shanna wanted to find a way to celebrate the weight loss of her Fit Body Boot Camp clients while also helping the community. That is how she came up with the “Our Loss Their Gain” clothing drive. She explains “As I watched one of our clients struggling to hold up her workout pants while she did jumping jacks, I realized that if our clients’ workout clothes weren’t fitting them anymore, their regular clothes didn’t fit them, either. That’s when it hit me that we could turn our clients’ weight loss success into a way to help even more people.”
Fit Body Boot Camp Spring and The Woodlands support a women’s shelter whose mission is to help women and children in domestic violence and abuse situations. The Montgomery County Women’s Center resale shop, Something Special, are in constant need of new merchandise which helps to bring in funds to feed and house the 75 plus women and children in need. And after the successful donation of clothing from “Our Loss Their Gain”, Something Special has plenty of merchandise to resell.
“We were tremendously grateful for the 35 bags of clothing that were donated to us by Fit Body Boot Camp. The clothing that was donated will help to provide many resources for our women’s shelter,” said Linda Hardwick, the Development Director for the Montgomery County Women’s Center. She adds, “Some of the women and children we help here have shown up with nothing but their pajamas, so any donations made to our shelter and resale shop are really appreciated.”
Empowered by the success of their weight loss, the members of Fit Body Boot Camp Spring and The Woodlands were thrilled to have helped so many women in need. “I was super excited when my clothes started getting looser from working out at The Woodlands Fit Body Boot Camp,” says a client of The Woodlands Fit Body Boot Camp. “Fit Body Boot Camp is always doing things to give back to the community and help out, so I thought it was great to collect all of our clothes that didn’t fit and give them to the local women’s shelter. Now I have room in my closet for new clothes in smaller sizes!”
Overwhelmed at the amount of participation of her boot camp members and clothing collected, The Woodlands personal trainer Shanna plans on hosting another clothing drive in the near future. “We will do another clothing drive at the end of summer, before school starts. There are so many children who need back-to-school clothes, that it seems like the perfect time for another a clothing drive!”
