Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 05, 2012
In anticipation of National Disability Employment Awareness month in October, Think Beyond the Label is partnering with career network Brazen Careerist on an online job fair for workers with disabilities nationwide.
The Think Beyond the Label Online Career Fair will be held on October 16 and give qualified job seekers with disabilities an opportunity to connect with companies actively looking to hire them. Powered by Brazen Careerist, the Think Beyond the Label Online Career Fair will provide a unique forum and experience for employers to engage in real time with Think Beyond the Label’s 3,500-plus member community.
Additionally, Think Beyond the Label is teaming up with Internships.com to give students with disabilities a new resource for connecting with businesses that offer internships. Students with disabilities can access exclusive internship listings, while businesses can post internship opportunities, recruit interns through a resume database and get expert insights.
“We’re partnering with popular, socially relevant resources to engage qualified job seekers with disabilities, build the pipeline of candidates and make it easier for companies to recruit people with disabilities to meet their workplace diversity needs," says Barbara Otto, Principal of Think Beyond the Label. “We’re the only entity that’s connecting the entire range of workers with disabilities to employers looking to hire them,” she adds.
As of September 1, Think Beyond the Label, a public-private collaborative that works to build the pipeline of qualified job seekers with disabilities, has more than 3,500 registered community members across 50 states with job experience in 26 different industry types ranging from Aerospace/Defense to Hospitals & Healthcare. More than 25% of members have five years of relevant job experience, and 20% have more than 10 years of experience. More than 30% of members have a professional certification or college level degree or beyond.
"We're thrilled to partner with Think Beyond the Label to create this online career fair," says Ed Barrientos, CEO of Brazen Careerist. "This is a unique channel for employers to connect with job seekers with disabilities and raise awareness of their commitment to creating diverse and inclusive teams."
