Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) February 23, 2011

Live Web TV network ThisWeekIn today announced media pioneer Jarl Mohn has invested in the company and been appointed to its Board of Directors. Among his many achievements, Mohn is recognized for founding E! Entertainment and E! Online through a joint venture with CNET.

“Jarl’s background reads like a veritable ‘Who’s Who’ of the media industry,” said Mark Jeffrey, co-founder and CEO of ThisWeekIn. “He has successfully ushered in multiple new media paradigms, from celebrity entertainment to music videos, digital, and now - live and social. Insights like his can only come from experience, and we’re confident his vision will accelerate ThisWeekIn’s prominence as the go-to Web TV network.”

ThisWeekIn is the brainchild of Jason Calacanis, Kevin Pollak and Mark Jeffrey who officially launched the live Web TV network in May 2010 with This Week in Startups and Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show. In less than a year, ThisWeekIn has grown to a full-time staff of 10 with additional talent producing 26 niche live shows across technology, business and entertainment.

The network is currently garnering four million views per month thanks, in part, to its broad distribution across a branded YouTube channel, iTunes and iPad storefronts, Boxee application, and now GoogleTV. In partnership with UStream, the ThisWeekIn website also features an embedded live chat and video stream, allowing viewers to engage around shows in real-time for both live and previously recorded content.

“Highly targeted original Web programming that’s timely, relevant, and hosted by experts with strong viewpoints makes a terrific business model,” said Jarl Mohn. “We are entering a new era of Social TV and I am very excited to support what ThisWeekIn is building.”

Known as Lee Masters from his 20 year radio career, Jarl Mohn now serves as a corporate director and advisor to various media companies, making private equity investments in venture capital and buyout opportunities. Previously he was the founding president and CEO of Liberty Digital, Inc., a public company that invested in mid-stage interactive television, cable networks and Internet enterprises.

Before this Mohn is credited for the creation of E! Entertainment Television. As president and CEO he expanded E! internationally, then online through a joint venture with CNET, and launched the Style network. From 1986 to 1989, Mohn was Executive Vice President and General Manager of MTV and VH1. In addition to ThisWeekIn, Jarl is a board member at Scripps Networks Interactive, The Rubicon Project, Vuze, comScore and MobiTV. Previously, he served as chairman and board member at CNET and board director at XM Satellite Radio, among others. He is also a trustee of numerous nonprofit organizations.
