The launch of VIA Ready Brew coffee in the UK has received an enthusiastic reception from customers.

Travellers jetting off with Thomas Cook Airlines this summer will be able to kick start their holidays with the nation’s favourite coffeehouse brand*, as Thomas Cook Airlines becomes the first charter airline to offer Starbucks refreshments on board its 44 aircraft.
Starbucks’ award winning instant coffee brand, VIA Ready Brew**, will be available in nutty Columbia and rich Italian Roast varieties. For non coffee drinkers, tea options will include Tazo peppermint herbal Refresh and Breakfast blend, and Gourmet hot cocoa will also be on offer.
Joanna Wild, Director of Customer Services at Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “We’re always reviewing our on board menu because we know our passengers want to buy better than average food and drink brands that they know and love. We’re really pleased that by introducing Starbucks on board, we can now provide a great high street hot drinks brand that everyone recognises.”
Starbucks UK and Ireland Managing Director, Darcy Willson-Rymer, said: “The launch of VIA Ready Brew coffee in the UK has received an enthusiastic reception from customers. We know that they are also looking for better coffee at home, at work or on holiday, which is why Starbucks VIA represents such a big opportunity for us. We are delighted to be able to offer Thomas Cook Airlines passengers the chance to experience great quality coffee whilst they are travelling.”
Other new well-known products that will be offered this summer include Magners Pear Cider, Swizzels Matlow Retro Sweets and Oreo twin pack biscuits. Prosecco and Cava will also be available to purchase, as well as Funkin’ Cocktails Mojito and Cosmopolitan cocktail mixers to get travellers in to the holiday spirit.
To celebrate the launch, Starbucks has sponsored the Thomas Cook Airlines menu card from May to July 2010 and a crew incentive will run in June with prizes including a Mac Book and 12 iPod Touch multimedia players. The Starbucks deal was negotiated by Thomas Cook Airlines’ in flight service provider, Alpha Flight Services.
