Critically-acclaimed children’s author Tina Turbin, author of the multi-award-winning illustrated kids book Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy, has returned after a two-month book tour across the European continent.

“The tour was a huge success,” the author said upon her return to the U.S. “It was a dream come true to connect with Danny the Dragon fans across Europe and to reach out to the international children’s market after all the demand since the release of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy the DVD and the Danny the Dragon Dreams CD.” The author said previously in an interview in Rome, Italy, “No doubt that this adventure has stimulated and enhanced my writing.”

The tale of how Jimmy and his family stumble upon Danny the Dragon and his traveling companion, Skipper, Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy is the critically acclaimed first book in Turbin’s illustrated Danny the Dragon kids book series. The title is praised for its pro-family themes and values and is the recipient of a number of accolades from prestigious awards programs including the iParenting Media Awards, Mom’s Choice Awards, Creative Child Magazine, Purple Book Awards and more. The subsequently-released Danny the Dragon Dreams CD, DREAMS has won numerous awards as well.

The Danny the Dragon European Tour began in the summer and extended into early Fall. Just as with her previous U.S. book tours, Turbin spent her months abroad visiting children’s groups, bookstores, libraries, book fairs and festivals recounting to children the adventures of Danny the Dragon and answering the many questions of her fans. The European Book Tour was launched after a series of exciting announcements of awards including the most recent 2011 Media of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine in the category of Reading Interactive Picture Books and First Prize for Best Illustrations in the competitive Purple Dragonfly Book Awards for its illustrations by Aija Jasuna, residing in Latvia Europe. During her European tour, Imagination Publishing Group (IPG) announced that efforts are in progress to release Spanish and Greek translations of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy. A date has not yet been set for their release, according to an IPG representative.

Turbin recently took the world by storm with the release of a innovative Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy iPhone and iPad app, which was developed by iStoryTime, the app developer for How to Train Your Dragon. The first of its kind, Turbin’s iPad app features a reading of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy with sign language interpretation for the deaf and hard of hearing. Turbin plans to wrap up the year continuing to handle the intense media interest that came with the release of the app while working on Danny the Dragon’s next adventures and other children’s books. “This European tour was an author’s dream,” she said, “but I’m sure happy to be home to adhere to my writing schedule after such a stimulating experience in Europe.”
