Sanford Firestone, a family-owned and -operated brake repair and tire store in Daly City, is currently providing a free tire rotation with every oil change until Sept. 30.

"During the summer, the hot temperatures increase the wear and tear on tires, and as we approach the winter and rainy seasons, it is of vital importance that tire threads are in good condition because they are critical for safety on wet roads,” John Sanford of Sanford Firestone said. "So come to us today for a free tire rotation with every oil change service."

When checking tires, Sanford Firestone also checks the inside, where balding from alignment wear often causes some damage and can affect the performance of the vehicle.

Owners can perform a quick tire inspection on their own vehicles by turning the vehicle tires all the way to the right and checking the inside of the tires for possible alignment wear. Alignment wear on the tires would appear as inside or outside edges that are balding, flared tread blocks and uneven tire wear. Sanford Firestone helps set off alignment wear by rotating tires and aligning the vehicle’s four wheels. The auto repair shop also advises clients to have their tires rotated every 5,000 miles to allow for even wear on all four tires. This also gives the shop a chance to inspect tires on a regular basis.

“We always advise motorists on the importance of maintaining tires,” Sanford said. “It is the first safety measure a car has because if brakes are applied and the tires are in bad shape, stopping distance will be increased.”

Motorists should also monitor tire pressure often because this will not only reduce the risk of accidents but also save on the wear and tear of tires, as well as gas.
