Cities are named after people or famous historical facts. However, the city of Portland, Oregon was decided by a flip of the coin. The coin which was flipped was an 1835 Liberty Head Large Cent, known as the Portland Penny. This is rather fitting for a city that is as liberal as they come and welcoming to all. Today in America TV welcomes viewers to watch the award-winning cable television program on CNN Headline News.
Wide open and full of green walking and playing spaces, Portland offers a walking tour of downtown which includes two separate national historical districts dotted with nineteenth-century landmarks. The city has many theaters, zoos and other family friendly activities for all to enjoy.
