South Florida is still celebrating the Miami Heat’s 2nd NBA Championship win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in its usual ecstatic and loyal manner. Today in America TV is grateful that its hometown team has remained in the area, since its 1988-1989 inaugural season. Producer Evan Golden learned first-hand from two fans of the team formerly called the Seattle SuperSonics, now known as the Oklahoma City Thunder, how heartbreaking it is to watch the home team get ripped away from the city that loves it. The producers of the educational program are pleased to support the 2010 Webby Best Sports Film Award winner, Sonicsgate: Requiem for a Team.

Golden met the ardent Sonics fans who traveled all the way from Seattle to raise awareness about the once known Seattle SuperSonics at the NBA finals. Director Jason Reid and Colin Baxter, of the 2010 Webby award-winning film Sonicsgate: Requiem for a Team, simply wanted to let the world know that the then SuperSonics were torn away from the city, and not from lack of fan support, so they made the documentary. Their goal is to build enough attention and momentum to bring the team and its 40 year history back to Seattle.
