In this report, Gartner offers their observations and recommendations for the Password Management market. According to Gartner, the functions covered by password management are increasingly incorporated into Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions. Passwords are still the most frequently used authentication mechanism in organizations today, and Gartner estimates that 40% of all helpdesk calls are password-related. Gartner’s report also states that password management tools are simple to implement and very quickly yield a positive ROI that can easily be expressed in solid figures by reducing password reset calls by up to 70%.

The combination of self-service password reset and password synchronization is incredibly strong. It ensures that users can reset their own Windows password any time they forget it. Combined with password synchronization, it means that end users no longer have to remember the many different passwords required by the various target systems.
