Agein.com, the Internet’s premier anti-aging web site focusing on anti-aging tips, news, and advice from some of the foremost experts in the industry, is pleased to announce its top beauty trends for 2014.
“No matter what their age, everyone wants to look their best. While some will choose to augment their looks with plastic surgery or non-invasive procedures, others will do so with any number of topical moisturizers, serums, and creams,” says Dr. Kevin J. McLaughlin, Agein.com’s Anti-Aging Specialist. “Every year, new trends to help us stay youthful pop up; some take hold, while many do not. At the same time, a large number of tried-and-tested favorites get even more popular.”
One of the most popular noninvasive ways to prevent wrinkles is to use a neurotoxin such as Botox. While this treatment is safe and extremely popular, many women and men do not like the idea of injecting chemicals into their bodies. However, a lot still do: in 2011, Botox was injected 5.6 million times in America, and in 2012, Americans spent $11.0 billion on Botox injections, facelifts, and other cosmetic procedures. According to Dr. McLaughlin, laser skin treatments are becoming an increasingly popular way to combat wrinkles. Laser resurfacing uses pulses of light to bore tiny holes in the skin, which stimulates the body’s natural collagen manufacturing process. While the process can be accomplished in just a couple of visits to a plastic surgeon, it can be very expensive, costing upwards of $5,000.
“A regular, daily skin care regimen is essential to keep skin looking younger and fresher. And a good moisturizer, when added to other basic skin care rituals, can keep skin supple and soft and reduce the appearance of wrinkles,” Dr. McLaughlin explains. “When it comes to more traditional anti-aging techniques, it’s important to remember that no one product can do it all. Look for products specially designed to target different parts of the body: face, eyes, hands, etc.”
To keep skin looking healthy, Dr. McLaughlin recommends that people avoid using anti-aging products that contain alcohol, petrolatum, oxybenzone, and mineral oil. Instead, look for an anti-wrinkle cream that includes advanced, gentle ingredients like Alpine rose, plant stem cell extract, and peptides such as Matrixyl 3000 and Argireline.
