We are proud to support this contest. As a law firm founded in Milwaukee specifically to serve businesses and their interests over 75 years ago, we know that anything that helps turn good business ideas into commercial reality is a classic win-win cause.

Kohner, Mann & Kailas, S.C. (KMKSC) is once again sponsoring and providing expertise to support the annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest for 2013.

In addition to sponsorship funding, KMKSC attorney Stephen Taylor will once again be a member of the panel of judges throughout the competition while shareholder and business attorney Alexander “Sandie” Pendleton serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Technology Council, which organizes the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest.

Now in its tenth year, the Governor’s Business Plan Contest is designed to provide Wisconsin-based entrepreneurs with training in, and practical experience of, the process of developing and presenting business propositions through written and oral presentations to potential investors and partners. In total, there are 296 entrants, and those that make it to the finals in June have the opportunity to win monetary and cash-in-kind support. Contestants can also secure media access and direct exposure to potential partners and investors since the live final presentations, judging, and awards ceremony represent a featured element of the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference.

The Wisconsin Technology Council is the science and technology advisor to the Wisconsin Governor and Legislature. Launched in 2001, the Tech Council was created by a bipartisan act of the governor and the Legislature. It is an independent, non-profit and non-partisan board with members from tech companies, venture capital firms, at all levels of education, research institutions, government and law.

KMKSC Shareholder and business attorney Alexander “Sandie” Pendleton has served on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Technology Council since its founding. He has provided business and corporate counsel to emerging Wisconsin companies and entrepreneurs for many years. Stephen Taylor is a former venture capitalist and entrepreneur who is now a lawyer with KMKSC focusing on international business and electronic information.

“We are proud to support this contest,” commented KMKSC President Steve Kailas. “As a law firm founded in Milwaukee specifically to serve businesses and their interests over 75 years ago, we know that anything that helps turn good business ideas into commercial reality is a classic win-win cause. Entrepreneurship is essential to the future economic health of this state and of the nation as a whole.”
