When children lose their hair, whether as a result of medical treatments, health conditions or burn accidents, they don't just suffer physically

thumbprint cellars, one of Sonoma’s top wineries that features a wine bar and wine tasting, is honored to present the “Wigs & Wine” fundraiser benefiting “Wigs for Kids,” a cause close to the heart of thumbprint cellars owner Scott Lindstrom-Dake. The three-day event will span June 8 through June 10, from noon to 6 p.m. daily.

Scott Lindstrom-Dake originally grew his hair out to keep his neck warm on the ski slopes. When warmer weather arrived and it was time to cut off his long locks, Scott decided he wanted to do something special with all his extra hair. As a father of two, this small business owner understands the importance of a child’s self-esteem, so Lindstrom-Dake decided to donate his hair to “Wigs for Kids,” an organization that provides hair replacement solutions for children.

“When children lose their hair, whether as a result of medical treatments, health conditions or burn accidents, they don't just suffer physically. The change in their appearance can drastically undermine their self-image and sabotage their self-esteem,” Lindstrom-Dake said. After Lindstrom-Dake donated his hair to Wigs for Kids, he said, “Why stop there?” and got his staff involved.

“Upon hearing that Scott donated his hair, the staff started brainstorming what else we could do,” Tess Kofoid of thumbprint cellars said. “We decided to host a weekend-long event where tasting fees collected and a portion of all sales made over the three days will be donated to ‘Wigs for Kids.’ We’ll also collect any donations for the non-profit organization.”

Lindstrom-Dake and the staff at thumbprint cellars will wear wigs during the weekend’s “Wigs & Wine” event to raise awareness and funds for the “Wigs for Kids” organization.

“More than two million children are affected by hair loss,” said Kofoid. “If we can help even one, we’ll know we’ve made a difference.”

The owners and staff of thumbprint cellars invite the public to join them at their Healdsburg tasting room from June 8 through June 10 for “Wigs & Wine” a fundraiser for “Wigs for Kids.”
