Biofilms: Recent Study Supports Elimination of Biofilm Colonies; Sinus Patients may Benefit

With biofilms being implicated as a hindrance to the eradication of bacteria in the sinuses, Aerosol Science Laboratories (ASL Pharmacy) has developed a new Mupirocin formula. Mupirocin may be useful in eliminating S. aureus biofilms present on the sinus mucosa of patients with CRS. Biofilms have recently been implicated in the chronic nature of sinusitis. From Dr. P. J. Wormald's clinical study, In Vitro Activity of Mupirocin on Clinical Isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and its Potential Implications in Chronic Sinusitis: "Our results suggest that topical mupirocin may be useful in eliminating S. aureus biofilms present on the sinus mucosa of patients with CRS."

ASL's compounded Mupirocin solution is derived from the pure powder, rather than from an ointment. ASL provides easy topical therapy two ways. Currently, ASL can provide these doses:
