There's no denying that smartphone applications are among the hottest consumer trends worldwide. Taking the lead is apple with over 30,000 unique applications ranging from games to social networking to utilities. New estimates suggest that apple will sell between 10 and 45 million iPhones for calendar year 2009 and over one billion apps have been downloaded to date.
The latest iPhone fitness application to hit the market is iWorkout Muse which allows the user to build custom interval training workouts seamlessly mixed to their favorite workout tunes. First choose the work and rest periods and then designate the workout length. The user then selects their music of choice that will tell them exactly what to do.
BJ Gaddour, CSCS, is the Co-Creator and Fitness Director for Workout Muse, a fitness music and media production company based in Milwaukee, WI. The company started in January of 2008 and has since made a name for itself among fitness professionals and enthusiasts alike around the world. Workout Muse is the pioneer of custom interval workout music soundtracks to automate interval workouts with the simple click of a button. All of the soundtracks consist of original musical compositions from a team of industry leading sound designers. Workout Muse employs an eclectic range of musical genres so that there is something for everyone and the music is created with the end user in mind- rhythmic accompaniments and audio arrangements clinically proven to maximize work output and minimize rest for a better workout. Plus, there are audio instructions guiding the user throughout the workout: when to start, stop, etc.
The company's rapidly growing customer base kept requesting for the ability to "mix it up" and listen to their own music and that is why iWorkout Muse came to fruition. Gaddour enthusiastically claims: "High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), where you alternate between periods of maximum effort and active recovery, is scientifically proven to burn nine times more body fat than ordinary exercise and remains the hottest trend in fitness and will for years to come. The problem with interval training is that you need to constantly look at the clock- when to start, stop, etc. This can be really annoying, so what we've done is created an application for the iPhone and iPod touch where you can build your own interval workout and then seamlessly mix it with your very own workout music playlists in 30 seconds or less. You know, whatever music gets you jacked up and ready to crank it! From there, just press play and the music tells you exactly what to do! It's so simple!"
General settings allow the user to opt for louder music during work periods and softer music during rest periods. The user can also choose to play music during work periods only or have audio instructions that tell them when to start and stop and when they are halfway through each work period. This distraction-free environment will allow users to focus on the task at hand and provide for better results.
iWorkout Muse is now available in the iTunes App Store for $1.99 and is quickly becoming the top iPhone fitness app. For more info about iWorkout Muse, please contact Julie Farrell via phone at 866.201.5335 or via email at support (at) workoutmuse (dot) com.
