In a tight job market, gaining the skills you need to stand out from the competition is a savvy investment. A rich menu of certificate programs and workshops will be offered from May 19-21 at the Orange County Convention Center by the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD). ASTD is the world’s largest association dedicated to empowering professionals to develop knowledge and skills successfully.
ASTD is offering 27 certificate programs and 11 workshops. Several of the certificate offerings will appeal to professionals outside of the association’s traditional demographic of workplace learning professionals. For example the Business Essentials certificate and Coaching certificate provide training in skills that are useful to every working professional.
Workshop opportunities include half-day and full-day options. Among the high-profile offerings are Disney’s Approach to Inspiring Creativity, a workshop that will take place at the Disney Institute, and World-Class Benchmarking: Seeing Success in Action, in which participants will visit the operations of several renowned organizations in the Orlando area including JetBlue and Darden Restaurants, operators of the Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Capital Grille chains. For training professionals, ASTD’s most popular program, Telling Ain’t Training will be offered in a unique one-day format and participants will receive the just-released 2nd edition of the book by the same name.
ASTD’s certificate programs and workshops are offered in advance of the ASTD 2011 International Conference & Exposition, May 22-25, also at the Orange County Convention Center. Keynote speakers for that event include strengths expert Marcus Buckingham and Doug Conant, CEO of Campbell’s Soup Company.
