Truckin’ Network Radio Show
Panel to Discuss the Needs of Owner-Operators and Small Carriers
PORTLAND, Ore. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) January 21, 2008 --
On Tuesday, January 22nd, Don Thornton, senior
vice president of sales, commercial technology group for TransCore,
will be part of an industry panel hosted by and broadcast on America’s
Truckin’ Network. ATN, originating on
Cincinnati’s 700 WLW radio station, is heard
nationally through network of affiliates and XM Satellite Radio. Each
night from Midnight to five a.m., the station’s
programming is focused on programming relevant to the thousands of
truckers driving at night.
Thornton, Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) President Bob
Voltmann, and Wayne Carucci, vice president, sales & operations for
Gateway Distribution, will discus how owner-operators and small carriers
can identify “quality brokers”
and build mutually beneficial relationships with them. Additionally, the
panel will address how the independent trucker and carrier operators can
maximize TransCore’s freight matching network.
“The success of both carriers and brokers
depends on their ability to find good partners. Carriers can easily
identify quality brokers by looking for the TIA
logo next to the posted loads,” said Voltmann.
He added, “TransCore makes it easy to
identify TIA members on their freight matching system by identifying
member loads with the TIA logo and they also allow users to sort loads
by TIA members.”
According to Thornton, TransCore is very focused on smaller carriers
pointing out that, “Nearly 70 percent of the
carriers in our DAT Network have 10 or less trucks and almost 50 percent
of less than three.”
TransCore recently revamped their owner-operator freight match platform,
Truckersedge.net. Since its overhaul, Truckersedge.net
has experienced 10 percent growth month-over-month. DAT Connect,
TransCore’s freight match system for smaller
carriers and Truckersedge.net helped move over 40 million loads through
the DAT network. TransCore has placed 1200 DAT load boards in truckstops
and travel centers across the United States and Canada, to enable
owner-operators quick, easy access to quality loads.
