Annual Travel Insurance A Must-Have For Crunched UK Holidaymakers
Post Office warns not to forget travel insurance for summer mini-breaks.
London, UK (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) June 21, 2009 -- A report out this month reveals that the credit crunch has impacted UK holidaymakers' plans for the summer. While a significant number will still be jetting off for summer fun, a third are choosing to scrap their traditional two-week holiday and are instead opting to take multiple - but ultimately cheaper - mini-breaks, both at home and abroad. However, a major concern flagged by Post Office Travel Insurance in response to this emerging trend is that adequate travel insurance could slip from holidaymakers' radars.
According to a Post Office Travel Insurance survey, almost a quarter of UK holidaymakers would consider going on holiday in 2009 without any kind of travel insurance to save money.
Before the recession, purchasing travel insurance would have been near the top of any holidaymaker's holiday preparation checklist, along with emptying the bins and purchasing foreign currency. However, a mini-break is very different to a fortnight's vacation - because it's generally more spontaneous and a much shorter duration, many people falsely believe they don't need travel insurance.
The Post Office advises that annual travel insurance is a good solution. For many, annual travel insurance is a cheaper travel insurance option for people planning multiple trips than taking out single-trip travel insurance for each individual break. It's therefore an ideal type of policy for the growing group of UK consumers that are swapping their annual big break for a number of smaller ones.
