Research from Mintel has shown that beach holidays remain the most popular type of holidays amongst UK travellers aged between 16 and 24 years old. Some 30 per cent of these holidaymakers choose a beach holiday over other forms of getaway such as a city break.
As the UK enters the peak summer holiday season, Post Office Travel Insurance is reminding all holidaymakers - regardless of their age - to check out their travel insurance before embarking on their beach break. Beach holidays typically offer holidaymakers a host of activities including water sports and other pastimes that may require additional levels of travel insurance cover.
Post Office Travel Insurance advises holidaymakers planning on partaking in sporting activities while on holiday, that they may need to check any pre-existing annual travel insurance policies to ensure these activities are covered. For example, beach resort activities such as scuba diving or sea kayaking may require additional travel insurance cover.
Whatever the type of holiday chosen, Post Office Travel Insurance reminds UK holidaymakers that travel insurance is essential in covering against injury, loss or damage. Travel insurance policyholders should check that their travel insurance covers any activities planned for the holiday and speak to their travel insurance provider to secure additional cover if necessary.
