A recent report from Mintel has revealed the newest holiday destinations set to join London, Paris and Provence as the top foodie travel destinations for gastro-tourists. The report now recommends Dubai, Hong Kong, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Chicago and Las Vegas as new hot locations for UK food lovers to spend their foreign currency on top-notch meals.
Luckily for gastro-tourists, research from Post Office Travel Services has found that foreign currency exchange rates for sterling against the different types of foreign currency in five out of the six recommended gastro destinations have improved over last year. Foreign currency exchange rates show that sterling has strengthened against both the Croatian kuna and the Czech Republic's koruna.
As well as basic foreign currency exchange rates, the Post Office has conducted travel money research into the cost of holiday essentials. For example, a three course meal for two in some of the recommended gastro hotspots such as Croatia and the Czech Republic will cost UK holidaymakers £42.87 and £33.87, respectively .
Emerging gastro-tourism hot spot Dubai is also one of the countries topping the Post Office Travel Services' Holiday Money Report for travel money value. The improving foreign currency exchange rate means UK gastro-tourists can enjoy a whopping 12.6 per cent more UAE dirhams compared to January 2009.
