New York party guru to head new nightclub

Bright Lights Business (BLB) expressed approval over EMM Group's signing of Travis Bass to help run a new nightclub at 199 Bowery in New York this week as the party legend prepares to take the helm of the company's new discothèque.

BLB opined that Travis Bass will make the club the hot new party in town following the announcement from the NY Times last week that the event coordinator would take the helm this month and introduce atmosphere to the club as only he can.

Known for throwing some of downtown New York's most exciting parties Bass has experience in turning mundane everyday locations in to “pop-up clubs” and the place to be for the young crowds of the fashion world over the past two years. During that time he has assembled a crew of two doormen and a DJ that have aided him in successfully creating clubs from recycled items and only $6,000.

BLB is excited that EMM Group (founded by Mark Birnbaum, Eugene Remm and Michael Hirtenstein) has signed Bass to help with the new club, reportedly named Bow, as his experience in atmospherics (lighting, fog, lasers, loud music and carefully-placed curtains at many of his parties) will bring an urban, edgy element to the clubs styling that help ensure it quickly becomes a hot spot in the New York nightlife scene.

Bass, originally from Beverly Hills, Calif., spent his 20's travelling through Central America and in the early 90's he started organizing fashion parties in Los Angeles. From there he started designing spaces for raves and festivals before being invited to New York in 1998 to help Peter Gatien outfit nightclubs.

The addition of Bass as a more permanent fixture in the New York club scene will only enhance the experience for late night partiers looking for a modern, edgy place to kick up their heels. His experience in creating exciting, real places to escape to will have many New Yorkers lined up to get in to this club well before the doors have even opened.
