Tri Cascade, Inc. a new innovative provider of consumer smart energy solutions, announces the preview of Electra IHD-LC with Smart Energy In-Home Display and Advanced Load Control capability. Electra comes a 2.4 inch 240 x 320 pixel resolution QVGA LCD display embedded with Freescale MC13224V the third-generation ZigBee platform incorporated with a complete, low power, 2.4GHz radio frequency transceiver, 32-bit ARM7 core based MCU, hardware acceleration for both the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC and AES security. Tri Cascade is energized the opportunity to boost Smart Grid for consumer energy efficiency with Electra IHD-LC for Smart Climate, Smart Energy, and Smart Living!

The company has strategically partnered with Freescale Semiconductor and Elka International, Ltd. Co. as the joint product and business development to provide this innovative smart energy device for AMI ready two-way communication via ZigBee transceiver option with Power Line Communication (PLC), and performing between the Utilities Smart Grid Advanced Metering Architecture and consumer Home Area Network as the upcoming scope of Smart Energy Profile 2.0 implementation. The Smart Meter In-Home Display (IHD) of the Tri Cascade Electra IHD-LC provides the energy usage data with profile reports and billing information for the household, the Load Control (LC) simultaneously calculates and displays real time energy load data such as Kwatt, Voltage, Amps and Power Factor of the device (HVAC, pool pump or water heater). With the 2.4 inch LCD display, consumers can monitor the household utility usage; expenses and the device energy loading information by toggling between IHD and LC.

Electra IHD-LC also provides the ability for Utilities to send out messages to the household with their demand response events scheduling, canceling of messages, support confirmation or mechanism for Time of Use pricing and price tiers. In addition to the capability of two-way communication between the device and the utility, it enables Utilities to balance demand and supply by reducing consumption and shedding load during times of critical peak demand on large draw appliances and devices. Electra IHD-LC is designed for later Smart Energy Profile 2.0 compliance and along with the SEP 2.0 firmware installment; Electra IHD-LC also enables the support of Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware update.

By implement "demand response monitoring" systems, the concept of Electra IHD-LC involves encouraging reductions in peak energy demand by providing customers with an instantaneous view of their ongoing energy usage and utility pricing on their networked in-home display. Potential savings can be achieved by turning off or rescheduling the use of appliances for a more cost efficient time.

Electra IHD-LC also designed with an Over Load Alarm protection, when the device has detected an over load condition, Electra IHD-LC will indicate an alarm message and automatically shut down the device power if the over load condition is over the pre-setup limitation.
