Getting involved in the community always feels good

Tribeca Marketing Group, a leading outsourced sales and marketing company in the Columbus area, recently lent some much-needed manpower to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Columbus and helped in the demolition of an older house, that would be torn down and replaced with a new home. Since its inception in 1976, this nonprofit organization has provided more than 300,000 homes all over the world.
John Soukas, president of Tribeca Marketing Group, partnered with Habitat because of the organization's worldwide reputation and mission of eliminating homelessness and poverty housing worldwide. The organization is able to build these homes through volunteer labor, and donations of money and material.
"Getting involved in the community always feels good," said John, who led his team of ten in their tasks of taking reusable fixtures and furnishings out of the house. "Our goal was just really to give back time and energy to our community and to be able to help out those in need."
John, along with his Tribeca Marketing Group team, put on their boots and gloves for the day, and helped tear out anything in the house that was salvageable and could be resold later, to raise more money for construction projects. In a single day the team stripped the house of appliances, carpet, flooring, cabinets, lights, doors, and other fixtures. The volunteer effort was completely optional, so John was overwhelmed by the amount of support that he received from the team members in his office. "Habitat only needed a team of ten for this project. We had so many volunteers that we had to wage a production contest in order to determine those who would be able to participate" recalled John.
"Habitat is a great organization because it provides a hand up, not a hand-out," John said. "Helping out the community that gives companies like ours a chance to grow is always good. In the end, we all felt that it was a great team-building experience."
