Lake Mary, FL (Vocus) June 3, 2010
Today ESA Renewables, LLC, a leading turnkey solar system provider, announced the start of commercial operation of the largest ground mounted solar farm in Georgia. Conceived and developed by Trey Pippin, a south Georgia pecan farmer, ESA Renewables engineered and constructed the 200kW power plant approximately 190 miles south of Atlanta near Arlington, GA . The system features high power modules made by Georgia-based Suniva, Inc., the leading U.S. manufacturer of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cells and modules.
Mr. Pippin’s system covers approximately 1 acre and was installed using 836 Suniva modules, PV Powered inverters, Schletter’s FS racking system and a Fat Spaniel monitoring system. ESA was able to bring this project online within 30 days of beginning construction, which was well ahead of its scheduled completion date. The PV system will generate over 310,000 kWh’s of clean, affordable, sustainable energy per year. This power generation will avoid 223 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, while additionally aiding Georgia in meeting its renewable energy goals. Presently, all electricity generated by the system is being sold to Georgia Power under a 5 year power purchase agreement. After that period, all power generated will be used to compensate for the electricity costs of operating Mr. Pippin’s farm.
“Solar is an untapped resource in Georgia and ESA is pleased to be part of this significant milestone for solar development in the area. We expect this landmark solar farm to serve as a model in the state of Georgia for large scale alternative energy projects. Bringing this power to the grid helps ESA hold a firm position in maintaining its leadership as the forerunner in the industry,” said Jeffrey Burkett, President of ESA Renewables, LLC. “Congratulations to ESA Renewables for embarking on this ground-breaking solar farm initiative in Georgia,” said Bryan Ashley, Chief Marketing Officer of Suniva, Inc. “We’re happy to have worked on this project with ESA Renewables, a company that shares Suniva’s desire to make clean energy a reality.”
Also consulting on the project was Robert Green of Greenavations Power, LLC located in Macon, GA. Greenavations was integral to developing the 200 KW array. Mr. Green stated “This array would be the first solar driven drip irrigation system and largest solar array in GA. Shamrock now has the best drought insurance policy available on the market – solar panels.”
