TV Anywhere to Bring American TV to the World

TV Anywhere today announced its forthcoming service offering focused on providing American television programming to subscribers residing outside of the US. The new service is a broadband enabled service that will allow subscribers to view live linear TV, on-demand movies and shows, and daily local news on either a PC client or a digital IP based set top box connected to the subscribers television.

“Our goal is to make the viewing experience very similar to what subscribers currently enjoy from existing digital cable or satellite providers. We know that over 12 million Americans have chosen to move outside of the borders of the USA and still have the desire to connect with ‘home’ via their entertainment choices. We will offer a unique opportunity for Americans living abroad to watch the same programming that they have become accustomed to in the USA, anywhere in the world.”, said Tom Ma, CEO of TV Anywhere.

“We are very excited that our content will be available on this new world-wide platform. Even though we already have significant international distribution, TV Anywhere will allow us immediate access to many markets that we would not be able to reach otherwise. TV Anywhere represents a big change in the way the world will watch television and the way in which content owners distribute their products. We anxiously await the formal launch of TV Anywhere in the new year," said Denis Leverson, COO of Soundtrack Channel.

TV Anywhere has agreements for distribution of several broadcasters content and will continue to work with content owners for the balance of 2006 to round out the product offerings. Subscribers can expect to see services that very closely mirror those available today from existing service providers in the US and Canada.

TV Anywhere is targeting an early 2007 launch for the new service pending successful field trials to be conducted throughout the balance of 2006. TV Anywhere has also applied for several US and International patents related to the distribution model and delivery concept. While most entrants into the market seem to be primarily focused on the domestic US space, TV Anywhere will be the first to approach the international market with an offering that ‘feels like home.’

The new delivery and content management platform has been designed and developed in conjunction with customer support software specialist v.1 Labs Inc. which will allow TV Anywhere to offer a higher than normal level of customer care on an international level.
