The program is geared toward national brands and franchises. When a company’s single Twitter profile does not effectively connect with potential customers, tweets can seem meaningless. Fouts Ventures recently updated a national web development directory after data evaluation showed that use and effectiveness of the directory were in decline. As part of the update, they built a network of 50 Twitter accounts (one for each state) to ensure that their tweets about local web content would be relevant to followers in different geographic areas than the firm’s national headquarters. The idea can also be implemented on a regional basis, targeting, for example, the Pacific Northwest, Southern California, New England, etc. Centrally managing a nationwide network of Twitter accounts allows national brands to meaningfully connect with customers all over the country.
