Tweets, viral videos, status updates and posts are changing the way the world is interacting, for social, educational and business purposes
Vancouver, BC (Vocus) September 3, 2009 –
Students, faculty and fans of University Canada West now have more options to interact with the online university, with the official launch of the school’s Twitter, YouTube and Facebook profiles. Each initiative will be used to promote UCAN news, special events and alumni updates. Visit http://ucan.ca/news for more information.
According to UCAN President and Vice-Chancellor, David Strong the networking sites are a “perfect fit” for the university, with its student body covering two campuses and the World Wide Web.
“Tweets, viral videos, status updates and posts are changing the way the world is interacting, for social, educational and business purposes,” says Dr. Strong. “The degree programs at UCAN focus on the evolution of business, technology and media, so it makes sense that we would participate and encourage our students to participate as well.”
Twitter, one of the newest forms of social media, is a micro-blogging and networking site. UCAN’s Twitter page will allow students, faculty and alumni to receive up-to-the minute updates and news about university events and life. Follow UCAN on Twitter at http://twitter.com/UCANedu.
UCAN will use its new YouTube channel to promote academics and campus life, including videos of graduation ceremonies, tutorials, online courses, alumni success stories and more. View original UCAN content at http://www.youtube.com/CanadaUniversity.
Students, alumni and faculty will also have the opportunity to keep up-to-date on all UCAN-related news via the university’s fan page on Facebook. The page also allows followers to post comments and photos, as well as interact with each other. Join the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/UniversityCanadaWest.
