...we urge the administration to clarify that the red line should include the mobilization of chemical and biological weapons, rather than waiting for the Assad regime’s deployment of these weapons.

The Coalition for a Democratic Syria (CDS) condemns not only the use of chemical weapons, but also the preparation and mobilization of such weapons by the Assad regime in Syria. In light of recent reports that the Assad regime is moving and preparing chemical and biological weapons for use, CDS strongly urges the United States and the international community at large to work together and take immediate action to prevent the Assad regime from preparing to commit another round of atrocities.
All necessary actions and precautions should be taken in order to prevent the deployment of these weapons against the civilian population in Syria. With the increased risk of such a potentially dangerous, devastating and destabilizing act, this is not a time for the international community to politic, but rather for all parties to work together to protect the Syrian people -- the US, Russia, China, Turkey, GCC, Arab League, UN, and the Friends of the Syrian People.
"The United States government has repeatedly stated that the use of chemical weapons is a red line. However, we urge the administration to clarify that the red line should include the mobilization of chemical and biological weapons, rather than waiting for the Assad regime’s deployment of these weapons,” said Syrian Emergency Task Force Executive Director Sasha Ghosh-Siminoff.
CDS believes that it is of utmost importance to prevent the further slaughter and violence that would be inflicted upon Syrian civilian populations should the Assad regime utilize its chemical weapons stockpile. The international community possesses the means to prevent this impending tragedy, and therefore should do all it can to prevent deployment of chemical weapons.
