One Step aims to offer a simple, yet invaluable service to cancers sufferers and their families; by allowing their lives to continue as normally as possible. This would not have been possible without the help of UK Healthcare.
Bolton, Lancashire (PRWEB UK) 16 January 2013
One of the country’s leading health cash plan providers, UK Healthcare, has given its support to One Step, the all new Bolton-based cancer charity; with a unique approach to supporting victims of the disease, and their families.
UK Healthcare has donated £2,000 to the One Step Charity, which has been invaluable in helping the organisation to get off the ground.
One Step offers help and support to the victims of Cancer, and their families. By helping with everyday practical activities, such as household chores, childminding, shopping trips and much more, One Step volunteers allow families touched by cancer to retain as much normality as possible.
During cancer treatments, sufferers can be extremely ill, but still worry about the effect of their absence on their family, children and other responsibilities. One Step can alleviate these concerns, by providing a helping hand where they need it most. This could be providing respite for family carers, driving sufferers to hospital or taking kids to school.
When a One Step volunteer cannot provide the help they need, the charity endeavours to connect them with the people who can. From contacting other cancer organisations to arranging for ambulance services, One Step are there to help.
There are currently 9 fully trained One Step volunteers at work within the Bolton community, and 3 more completing thorough training programmes to prepare them for the role.
According to Frank Gerrard, speaking on behalf of One Step, the two £1,000 donations from UK Healthcare had been crucial in allowing the charity to get up and running.
He said: "One Step aims to offer a simple, yet invaluable service to cancers sufferers and their families; by allowing their lives to continue as normally as possible. This would not have been possible without the help of UK Healthcare.
"We are extremely grateful for their support and we will work hard to ensure that all of our resources are dedicated 100% to supporting Bolton families whose lives have been affected by cancer."
In 2012, UK Healthcare donated more than £55,000 to charitable organisations across the UK. The company provides personal and corporate Health cash plans which allow policy holders to claim cash back for a wide variety of medical services and hospital procedures. Health cash plans can be used to pay for optical and dental work, hospital stays, prescriptions, cancer screenings and many other therapies and services.
