Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Kenkel, professor and vice chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, will be giving a talk this weekend at an informational event on the latest cosmetic treatments using ultrasonic technology. The treatments, known as Ultherapy (a trademark of Ulthra), use ultrasonic waves to stimulate the creation of collagen in the deep layers of the skin. This first-of-its-kind treatment can help tone and tighten facial skin without invasive surgery.

Dr. Kenkel, who regularly performs facelifts in Dallas, says that while Ultherapy cannot give the same results as a surgical procedure such as a facelift, its non-invasive nature makes it a highly compelling option for many patients. “This represents a whole new category within aesthetic medicine,” says Dr. Kenkel, “and my patients are thrilled to have an effective non-invasive, skin-tightening option.”

As the primary investigator in Ulthera's largest clinical study to date, Dr. Kenkel has used the technology for several years. Dr. Kenkel will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these novel treatments and their future in cosmetic medicine. He also will take questions from the audience.

The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on February 18th, 2012, at the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas, Irving. The free event is open to the public. Anyone interested in attending may RSVP at 214-490-8835.
